What We Do

What We Do

Carpenters Local 106

We are the leading professional men and women who are building Des Moines and Central Iowa. You probably already know some of us. We are an active part of our communities. We are your family, friends and neighbors, giving back and providing stable jobs that everyone can rely on.

We are commercial carpenters who partner with large companies throughout Central Iowa and the country to build our communities. Our Corporate business partners work closely with us to hire Local 106 carpenters for their projects, because they know our members are reliable partners who know what they’re doing.

Carpenters Local 106 members are educated, safe, and well-trained professionals who stick together as we build better communities for everyone. When you’re ready to start building your career, instead of just working a job, come talk to us. We provide on-going training to help our members develop skills that will last a lifetime. That makes Carpenters Local 106 members more marketable, and always ready to take on even the biggest projects.

Carpenters Local 106, and the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters will open a brand new state-of-the-art training facility soon, in Altoona, Iowa. This new training center will ensure our ability to teach all of the latest methods and techniques of today’s ever-evolving construction industry. It will provide the space we need to facilitate the “hands on” learning necessary to keep our carpenters on the cutting edge.

Giving back is an important part of who we are at Carpenters Local 106. We regularly provide funding and volunteer hours to help local charities throughout the year. You’ll see our participation in organizations like The Make-A-Wish foundation/Jolly Holiday Lights, The American Heart Association, Train to Inspire, Angels for Sam, St. Baldricks Foundation, St. Judes Children’s Hospital, and the Boy Scouts of America.

You can apply in person to become a member at 1555 1st Ave N. Altoona, IA 50009 or contact us here.
